Stop the Cycle of Boring Bulletin Boards Bulletin
Boards can play an important role in long term care facilities. Too
often, they are not maintained, kept up to date or offer any cool and
exciting information. The standard bulletin board will have a dinner
menu and the activities schedule. These bulletin boards are usually
so boring, that they tend to just become a part of the wall.
Offer to decorate a bulletin board at a
nursing home near you. Make it bold, full
of color and leave your supplies with the
activities department so they can keep it
going. We have got to stop the excuse, "It
isn't in the budget!"

Bring the World Inside Bulletin Boards should be used
to bring the world inside the facility. It should stand out with
items of news or events that are taking place in the community
or around the world. The best and easiest way to keep a
bulletin board exciting and worth looking at is to decorate it
based on a theme. No, I don't mean the typical spring flowers
and snowflakes. Let's try big topics like Global Environmental
Awareness, Health and Fitness, Recycling, Technology or any
of the important news that is so easily available.
Global Environmental Awareness If you were to
choose Global Environment Awareness, for example, you
would fill the board with updates from the EPA, information
on pollution in China or even here in America, Technology to
reduce pollution, water quality...There is so much information
available that you could fill many boards. If there is more
than one bulletin board, then keep the main information
consistent with all of them, but there is no reason why you
can't pick different topics for each one. Keep the theme for a
month. Load it up with articles and information so someone
would have to look at it again and again to get through it all.
